Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions
VCTool is a modular diagnostic software offering comprehensive capabilities, including coding, flashing control units, uploading datasets, backing up calibration data, and monitoring component values through an intuitive measurement wizard. It enables swift and secure activation of concealed features in vehicles based on the MQB, MQBevo, MEB, or MLBEvo platforms, among other functionalities.
Please note: The PQ, PL, and MLB platforms are not compatible with the current version of VCTool.
VCTool is compatible with an extensive range of interfaces:
– VAS5054x/6154x, utilizing the standard D-PDU API driver.
– Clone interfaces for VAS6154 such as VxDiag VcxNano, MVCI 6154, among others.
– For the MQBevo, MLBevo, and MEB platforms, the eNet interface is accessible via the DoIP protocol.
– Any premium J2534 compliant interface that supports the ISO15765 CAN UDS protocol.
– Adapters in line with ELM327 standards built on ELM, STN, or MIC chips (available in Bluetooth and USB) including ELM327, OBDLink USB/BT devices, and vLinker USB/BT devices. Due to the unique intricacies of the data exchange protocol associated with these interfaces, stability and speed are not guaranteed with ELM connections.
For optimal performance, we advocate the use of eNet, VAS5054/6154, or J2534 adapters.
Indeed, VCTool operates as a client-server application, with the bulk of the essential data residing on our server.
The internet connection is primarily utilized during the login phase and data retrieval (such as backups, datasets, or other relevant data). Therefore, if there happens to be an interruption in the internet connection during a firmware update of a control unit, rest assured it won’t impact the update process whatsoever.
VCTool stands as the pioneering third-party software capable of unlocking control units shielded by SFD in real-time! Delve deeper into the nuances of working with SFD by exploring here.
Certainly, you can register and download VCTool at no cost. A majority of the presets for unveiling hidden features will be accessible, and most modules will operate in a demo mode.
No, VCTool does not offer services related to associating control units with vehicles, removing component protection, or interacting with the immobilizer.
Certainly. You can take advantage of our Stock Service, which offers immediate access to factory datasets upon request. These requests can be generated either manually, from the connected vehicle, or using backup data. This service is fee-based, and the terms can be reviewed directly within VCTool.
The built-in antivirus of the Windows OS might occasionally flag the VCTool executable file for containing potential threats. This can occur because some malicious software developers may use similar technologies to protect their source code. Regrettably, the native antivirus software may sometimes produce false positives.
For a smooth installation, we suggest temporarily disabling the built-in antivirus and adding the VCTool executable file to its exceptions list.
